I see this self-congratulatory hindsight often.

I might treat it with something other than total contempt if it was coming from someone who actually told Harry Reid to do that two years ago.

    •  Okay (0+ / 0-)

It would have been nice if Obama asked him to.
      Maybe he did though.
      Who knows.

      •  In Jan 2009, why would Obama do that? (2+ / 0-)

It's easy to look back from here and realize how dishonorable and irresponsible the Republicans are with the filibuster, and how their recklessness makes it necessary to change the rules, but it was not clear that that was the case in January 2009.

I certainly don't recall seeing anyone on this site, or elsewhere, who made that case in January 2009.  It was only later that it became apparent how bad the Republican senators would behave.

    •  Old Harry is just so shit-stupid (0+ / 0-)

he never noticed that Republicans had loudly proclaimed, in public, on tv, on radio that they intended to use every trick they could to stymie legislation.

If only more bloggers had faxed him that the Rules he is an expert on would lead to a super-majority of 40 for the Republicans, he would have understood the situation and acted differently.
