was a little too centrist for my liking. He seems like a nice guy, but politically he just seemed happy to muddle along and not progress too far.

I predict there will be a cat in the sack -- probably ceiling cat. ~ consciousness razor.

    •  He wanted to cut MaineCare funding (0+ / 0-)

      for persons with TBI.

Busloads of folks with brain stem-related disabilities converged upon the Augusta Civic Center for that hearing...it was so disgusting, I'll never forget it!

His negatives shot through the roof on that lil' number; and they never went up again (in the Dem. base, let alone--to the remaining Mainers).

Baldacci was a DLC corporate Democrat--not at all progressive.

DirigoChoice was also a damned disaster--he whored out to insurance companies (as is Obama).

Progressives tried in vain to tell him that it would never work (we wanted single payer); and he refused to listen...a lot of bridges have been burned within the party itself these past 8 yrs., IMMHO.

We had to work our tails off to get him elected the 2nd time, only to keep Woodcock (right wing fundie) out of the Blaine House.

No, I'm not impressed w/Gov. John's "performance" at all--not considering what could've been done over the past eight yrs. (with a Dem. majority all 'round).
