  •  In as much as I need to. This house is (7+ / 0-)

    pretty sound.

Been out a few times to "plow" the road for all of us, since my Volvo is a tank in this weather; shoveled path to car twice; path to workshop once... gettin' tired.  Threw a (formerly brand new, pristine) canvas tarp over my windshield to keep the snow from icing it over, parked facing out at the very edge of my... well, we'll call it a driveway, for lack of a better word.

About all I can do for now.  Plenty shoveling ahead tomorrow, I figure.  Getting dark now: don't know that I'll do more today.

    •  Too bad you cannot share a lawn tractor with a (9+ / 0-)

shovel on it with a neighbor.  It would make short work and maybe even be a money maker if this is going to be a regular occurrence.

      •  I'm starting to think that, as much as I hate (9+ / 0-)

the noise and waste of fuel, a snowblower might be in my future.  I'm getting older... ;)

The only friend I have with a tractor lives in a virtual gully -- don't think he could get it out of there at this point.  (Kinda strange, no?)

But it's a mighty appealing idea.  At least for here.  There are plenty of folks with plows who augment the town's efforts at getting everyone dug out, so not sure how lucrative it would be.

You sound like you're in a snowy clime.  Are you?

        •  Not normally but the weather is changing. When (8+ / 0-)

we do get snow in Seattle, it is a major problem.  We don't have the equipment locally to deal with it and it causes major issues.  You have to be creative to be able to navigate successfully.

          •  I remember a friend of mine in Atlanta (7+ / 0-)

telling me, years ago, how the entire city had been brought to a screeching halt by a light dusting of snow.

It makes all the difference to have your municipality fully prepared for snow.  They're really good here about plowing the roads.  But I live down a dirt road off the main one (or what passes for a main one), and they don't get to unpaved roads 'til they've done everything else.

And, of course, when they do plow, they usually block my car with a wall of snow. ;)

Hope you can enjoy the snow, if it doesn't become too much of an inconvenience.  And be safe!
