  •  That didn't help me understand (0+ / 0-)

The diarist basically said that the holocaust was no different than other previous attempts at genocide in the western world.  If you could point out where the Germans were singled out it would be appreciated, because I didn't see it.

I refuse to represent my political beliefs using numbers. It isn't accurate, nor is it helpful. But I'm around a -10 on both scales.

    •  Look to the paragraph about (1+ / 0-)

how the Allies "absolved themselves of their guilt" by warring on the Germans (implying that the Germans' crimes were sufficiently different that the Allies would feel a need to chastise them) and the "alien" references. But the biggest tip-off was where the diarist made it quite clear that s/he was parroting a line in order not to be branded a denier. It's difficult to determine what, if anything, in here represents a bona fide opinion, and how much of it is adopted as a façade.

    •  It's basically an illogical I/P diary (3+ / 0-)

that has a total disregard for Jews, whom it tokenizes, uses Germans as a sort of foil to make a point about Western Imperialism, and tries to prop up Islamic nations as non-participants to make what appears to be a shitty scare-argument that has big fail written all over it. The diarist also tried to make an appeal to postmodernist ideas, which we're all familiar with if not by name, then by theoretical posturing, to cover this.

people are projecting a lot of things into this diary that's not there. Its not well written, but the attacks have very little to do with what's actually being said. I was curious about the hypotheisis since I had never heard of it. Its interesting how once again it seems the diarist is not really arguing against the point mentioned, but for those used to these I/P related arguments that what everything is reducible too. As an outsider, I got to say I don't like the mob mentality that I keep mentioning along this thread where we aren't suppose to thinka bout things with any complexity beyond screaming down anyone who says something slightly at variance with how people want them to ritualize these issues. Above I was compared to demogogue for asking questions. That simply is not acceptabe if one is truly interested in understanding what people are saying. I disagree with some parts of what the diarist says, don't understand other parts and agree with other parts. Rather than addressing those issues on their face, I read comments that disagree with the diary entirely without much explaination on the face of the diary that makes sense.
