    with Buddy Holly. I don't remember who the other bandmember was on that trip, but Waylon famously tossed a coin with JP Richardson to see who'd fly home and who'd be on the bus. Jennings lost ... or so it appeared, initially. IIRC there was another member of the Crickets on the plane ...

      I was thinking of two members of the band who are generally refered to as the original Crickets; Jerry Allison and Joe B. Mauldin, who were going to rejoin Buddy after that last tour :) Yup, Waylon was playing for Buddy on the tour :)

      Apparently, it was actually Tommy Alsup who did the coin toss with Richie Valens, and Waylon gave his seat to JP, because JP had the flu ... and the rest they say is rock and roll.

      that Waylon may have played back in the day. I'm keeping that, should I ever have the choice....
