    have been going on since Vietnam war and somehow we've managed. So it doesn't seem changing the policy is a necessary component to our national security, does it?

    •  How about the increasing infiltration (0+ / 0-)

      of the officer corps by the Religious Right? I suspect that having an increasing proportion of the officer corps coming from ROTC programs at conservative, mostly Southern, schools is part of the problem.

        But Bush made it a priority to place those people, and likely would have regardless what the recruitment pool looked like. (As we saw at the DOJ, where Regent University students took priority over Harvard, U of M and other much finer law schools.)
