  •  Wow (0+ / 0-)

    Youve rationalised yourself into dreamland.

He, through his mouthpieces did indeed tell the base to fuck off. Guess what. We're the base. You dont like us you dont like the base. There is, in fact, not a well known progressive in this country who doesnt have a dk account. And the people here were marching, volunteering, donating back when the gop was literally talking about imprisoning democratic activists. When they were herding them into  corrals surrounded by razor wire at political events held by Bush and the gop.

And "giving the rich a giant tax cut for four more years" isnt 11th dimensional chess "punting the ball down the field". Allowing the other team to score a touchdown isnt "punting".

OUR policies are supported by 60%+ of the nation. The ones he's enacted are supported by 30%. Delude yourself all you want then actually ask working class people what they think.

I am an American. I damned well have the right to question my leaders. ESPECIALLY those of my party. If you think otherwise youre in the wrong party.

I think the last election pretty much put the lie on your last contention.. the american people sent a pretty damn clear message to him and to the bluedogs. They got massacred.

The next election will be a slaughter. He has already signed his political death warrant no matter how hard the msm decided to spin it after they got their tax cuts.

If you want to make a better world you need to learn to see the world in terms of logic and fact rather than emotion. I am emotionally a huge fan of Jimmy Carter. Intellectually i know he was an abject failure and i know why. I am emotionally of a desire to be near-blindly supportive of the first black president in american history. Intellectually though i know he is either a moderate republican or simply too timid to lead and is a disaster for progressivism and the party so far.

In 2012.. who will you blame? Progressives again? Because we, who insist he do the opposite of what he is doing, are the cause of all that ails him? As we asked many a republican.. at what point does the buck stop there.

Voters will choose a person who fights a losing battle for his principles over one who fights winning battles against them every time.

    •  I'm sorry. Was there an annointing? Did someone (0+ / 0-)

set up a secret club complete with secret handshake so that only people who know it can call themselves "the base"?

      You declare:

OUR policies are supported by 60%+ of the nation. The ones he's enacted are supported by 30%. Delude yourself all you want then actually ask working class people what they think.

Yeah - "OUR policies".  And just how many of "OUR policies" do you think he would have gotten if he HADN'T handed the GOP what they were demanding, albeit temporarily?  I know plenty of working class people and came out of them myself, and I know damn well that the working stiffs I know are more than happy that they had their social security extended and their social security taxes temporarily reduced and THEIR tax cuts extended along with the Bush tax cuts.

There's the old saying:  "Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good."  NO ONE who knows anything about how Washington works and understands the sausage-making they call the legislative process believed that Obama was going to get anywhere with trying to enact "OUR policies" without handing the GOP what they wanted.  He was serious when he called them hostage takers, but he was also correct that he was not going to budge them.

      •  The BASE (0+ / 0-)

are actual Progressives who support DEMOCRATIC policies. PROGRESSIVE policies. Not born again reaganism like a new sect that has shown up recently on dk and just love love loves the new Reaganism.

Voters will choose a person who fights a losing battle for his principles over one who fights winning battles against them every time.

        •  Oh look at you, making biting personal (0+ / 0-)

attacks on everyone who isn't as PURE as you and the "real" base.  You should join the Tea Party with such sophisticated thinking.  There are plenty of people who are progressives and liberals and want progressive advances and achievements.  Unfortunately, since most of them don't live in their Mommy's basements or at their Doritos stained keyboards and actually inhabit the real world they tend to tailor their expectations - not their wishes but their expectations - to what can be achieved realistically, not to the self-described fantasyland inhabited by people who make themselves seem special by saying they and only they can call themselves the "base".

          •  HAhahahahaha wow (0+ / 0-)

            man.. seirously

Unfortunately, since most of them don't live in their Mommy's basements or at their Doritos stained keyboards and actually inhabit the real world

You get your garbage Straight from freerepublic? Lmfao. And you dont wanna compare "real world" resumes.
