  •  i dunno by looking at his freaking record (8+ / 0-)

pushed for NAFTA, opposed financial regulation, called health care act too much to the  "left" - thats not a smear but basic facts.  How can anyone defend him on this site?

    •  The Dem party pushed NAFTA! (0+ / 0-)

Contrary to what you may think, there were good arguments to try and help Mexico and the United States at the same time.

He did not oppose financial regulation. He opposed one part of it. He also isn't the only person with that position on the health care act within the Democratic party.

Contrary to your belief. The Democratic Party is a center-left party by and large. The fringe far left on this site is not indicative of the whole party. If it were Dean would have been the nominee as would John Edwards.

Reaganite Democrats supported NAFTA, not the Democrats aa a whole, and they are not representative of the traditional party nor the current one. NAFTA wasn't remotely about helping anybody but the wealthy and large corporations, certainly not the US and Mexico as a whole.

      •  LOL! (0+ / 0-)

Then I guess you won't need our votes in '12, then?

The fringe far left on this site is not indicative of the whole party.

        •  I don't belong to any "fringe." (1+ / 0-)

The fringe is whats in the White House right now.  It represents people who use government to make themselves very rich, and if there's anyone they really represent, it certainly isn't the majority of Americans.  They're the true "fringe," not us.  Remember when Bill Clinton got rid of anything left over from the New Deal, even the song?  I would call them the fringe as well, because that's who they represent.  It's certainly not the people who want to save S.S. and who do actual work for a living.  Have you noticed how this administration has done nothing to increase the capital gains tax that punishes people for earning a living by doing actual work?  And it was Bill Clinton who reduced that capital gains tax.

      •  "center-left party", eh? (0+ / 0-)

Well, perhaps we need some definitions, but from where I sit, this is a center-left website. So far so good?

      •  financial regulation bill was extremely watered (0+ / 0-)

down as it is and he opposed 2 of most wothwhile parts - consumer agency annd (already watered down) derivative regulations. With regards to healthcare, NO democrat outside of maybe Lieberman and Nelson thought the bill was too "left."  NAFTA did nothing to help US workers and only further contributed to weakening of unions.
