    is much, much harder.

    Me, I feel like I gave him a pass when I was too young and inexperienced.  So now that I'm old and wise (heh) I'll give him another chance, that way I can shelve him permanently with a clear conscience. :)

      The USA's Flaubert, and a talented stylist.
      I prefer him in small doses myself, but I totally admire his craft.

      As a teenager, I guessed (totally by intuition) that he was likely gay, with a streak of self-loathing, and yearning for a society that might accept him.

      Americans immigrating to England were pretty rare.
