That seems to me to be very unusual for him to be ordered to take a hands-on roll.

The threat to our internal democracy by this sort of thing of course warrants top level involvement, but might this also be a sign that Obama and Holder don't entirely trust Arizona officials not to miss something important?

Because a Federal judge was killed and a Representative shot makes, I believe, this a matter of federal jurisdiction, and could mean potentially that they insist on custody and prosecution. I imagine they'd prefer it to be local (and since others were killed, there is dual jurisdiction), but again, this is clearly a development of some significance.

      jurisdiction.

There is no question. Federal employees were attacked.

This is not unusual at all. It would be unusual if the FBI did not get involved.

    •  I apoligize. Only now I read (0+ / 0-)

at HuffPo that Obama is sending the FBI Director to Arizona.

This is a bit curious, even odd, implying the Director has no other work at his office in Washington, and that he would be traveling with and directing the operations of a large FBI staff.

So there is more to the story than we know.
