gratuitous reference was because he knew the article would be about Republicans.  Because that is the only place the data points could be found.  But without the standard both side do it, Bai would lose a bit of village credibility.  And that is more important to him than the truth.

I still don't think that piece should be given any more light without directly addressing the corrosive nature of false equivalency and continued apologies for Republican rhetoric by those such as Chuck Todd, Harold Ford, Matt Bai, and Howard Kurtz. It gives cover to those who seek to divide.  Until this is addressed head on, it won't stop.  A group hug won't do it.  Even if this had zero to do with politics it is still an opportunity to take on this issue.

We need to convince Bai and Todd that they are contributing to the environment by willfully ignoring the difference in the rhetoric of the right and left before Republicans will stop doing what works for them.   Until they are held to account instead of being comforted as Todd did in his interview, they have no way to stop because the are driven by nuts like Limbaugh and power in general.

Morning joke has already started the inoculation and as I predicted Democrats such as Harold Ford can't end a sentence without saying "the left does it too" although they have yet to state a single example of violent rhetoric or violence from the left.

Bai needs to be held to account, not simply blown off as appeared to be done here, even if it was unintentional.
