  •  The problem is many on right believe equivalence (22+ / 0-)

They believe that posts calling Bush fascist were just as provocative. They refuse to feel any responsibility. Changing their behavior would be admitting they went too far and admitting that they have been operating on a far more dangerous level. I"d like to believe they could look in the mirror and see the need to change, but I fear it's too hard to admit bad behavior.

if you really get down to it, a hell of a lot of them believe she asked for it. This is the reality we are facing.

This is not the turning point. The turning point will come after more rightwing killers take Enough lives, that the media and the political leaders can't deny that it's the rightwingers causeing this.

Did anyone here the talking heads even mention the anthrax 2 leterbombs being sent this week? Right before the screaming to repeal HCR starts we get Congreswomen assassinated and letter-bombs sent to Janet Napolitano?  I didn't?

It will become THE turning point when, tragically, more people are wounded or die. But the turning point will come AS SOON as one of those wounded, or killed, or shot at, is a member of the Media.

These national media "journalists" always think and act (no evidence to contrary) like they are immune from this, that they "only report, you decide." But the first time one of them gets beaten up, or tromped on, or God forbid, hurt worse, then they will ALL be frightened. And the media herd mentality will take over.

I thought we might have had one of those turning points in 2008. Remember in New Hampshire a bunch of Ron Paul supporters chased Sean Hannity (I think it was) and his crew through the streets one night because Sean had said something honest about Paul? Hannity ran like a cur dog.
But let some John Stossel get shoved around, or let a Katie Couric get knocked down by a testy mob, and the meta narrative will turn at warp speed in a new direction.

Sadly, though, not until then, I'm afraid.

        Shalom.
