ment isn't limited to pistols, but I'd be spitting into the wind.

If you can afford it, the way the Amendment is written, you can have anything -- and there's nothing wrong with that.

Just because I can't afford my own Stinger-equipped DUKW doesn't mean I shouldn't be able to have, and keep current with, what I can afford.

Second amendment is not a get-out-of-jail card for people who perpetrate gun violence you know. Regulation is called for in the language of the amendment. I thought I'd point that out for you, in case you've never read it.

Swiss / Israeli model? I posit you're correct, and that ties in with the proscription on standing (land) military.

        I'm not suggesting a get-out-of-jail-free card.
I'm saying that as a citizen I possess the right to own -- and maintain proficiency with, so long as I break no other laws doing so -- whatever weapons I can afford.

Note that one can build a bow for a very small cost -- or expend as much on a bow as on a rifle / pistol / shotgun. One can do the same with a crossbow.

No one will dispute the deadliness of such weapons turned on humans, but there's not the outcry to stop people possessing them that there is the outcry against firearms.

        Why?
