    and more evidence is needed. Unfortunately the details of his trial when (or given the propensity we've shown for violating his constitutional rights, if) he is tried may be classified themselves. I will say that some of what he released, such as the assassination of the two journalists in Iraq, is most definitely a matter of public concern. Our government lied to the world about the incident several times and the tapes showed they lied not to protect national secrets, but rather to save the government and its officials the embarrassment, which is not a legitimate or valid reason for material to be classified.

    At this point Manning is far from a hero, but he likely is equally far from being the villain he is being made out to be.

    And I think Manning also fits into your point about Dahmer and Cunanan. His sexual orientation is too often noted not for the angle of why he did it, but as "oh yeah, and the traitor is gay too."
