  •  By the way, should you run into me (5+ / 0-)

in a roomful of other gay men, well, there will be no mistaking it. I can camp it up with the best of them!

but in my experience guys who say thing like you've said in this thread about themselves invariably turn out to be total flamers in real life, despite their self-perception to the contrary. Not saying that is true in your case, but I'm just sayin'.  ;P

      •  I live in rural Maine. (6+ / 0-)

I'd still do it if I were a "total flamer". Life would be a little more difficult, but hey, that's life. I'm not going to be intimidated over that kind of stuff.

There is a total difference to me when one is in a campy situation. Christopher Isherwood wrote a lot about the aesthetics of camp and also about the way some gay men act when they are in a room full of other gay men. Some can camp it up, and others can't.

But in real life, no, I'm not a "flamer". Not that there is ANYTHING wrong with that. Come up and cut firewood with me, grapple with my haul-off mooring and crap in my privy and take cold-water baths with me up to my house and see how long you last. ;) LOL.

though I must point out that being skilled at chopping wood, physical labor, living in a rural area, and taking cold baths has absolutely nothing to do with being a flamer or not (and no, of course, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that), but I believe you nonetheless.

          •  I know, I'm just having a good time with you (6+ / 0-)

And actually, I heat the water for my baths on the stove first. I only have cold running water. It's quite the 19th century existence, actually. Though at the moment I am in the city and appreciating my hot showers. ;)
