not legally insane /= no mental illness.

Candidate Obama was right: When both parties serve the same side in the class war, voters may as well cling to guns and religion. Bitter since 2010.

to be "legally" insane. Being not legally insane is like being caught without a drivers license right? You can drive but you haven't complied to governmental guidelines.

I wrote to my senator telling her to oppose amnesty for illegal wiretappers.  Unfortunately, that framing never caught on.

not a mental health diagnosis. No need for air quotes. It is an affirmative defense when a person is charged with a crime.

Exact definitions vary by jurisdiction, but they usually involve understanding the nature and consequences of one's actions and the ability to differentiate right and wrong.

Mental illness encompasses everything from phobias to schizophrenia. The majority of people with a mental health diagnosis do know what they are doing and can tell right from wrong.

Antisocial personalities, for instance, know exactly what they are doing and understand that there are laws against it. They just don't give a damn about anyone but themselves.
