But this is clear: A young man who clearly is mentally troubled should not be able to buy a gun and magazines that hold 30 rounds, almost no questions asked, with a waiting period that is a joke. And he certainly should not be able to walk around with it concealed, legally.

    •  How do you do that exactly?? (0+ / 0-)

Go back to a system where local cops decided who could own guns/carry concealed etc? Cause guess what, even in NYC or LA if you're rich and white you can get any weapon you want. If you're black or hispanic though.. well...

You cant presolve every atrocity. By definition bad things are going to happen in the world even horrific ones like this.

You know what would have helped with this problem? Undoing Reagans gutting of social services. If this guy had a mental illness on record he wouldnt have gotten a gun. But he didnt so he did. But even that doesnt matter. It is easier and cheaper to build a bomb. Why do yo uthink if some psychopath wants to kill people he wont just build a bomb?

Voters will choose a person who fights a losing battle for his principles over one who fights winning battles against them every time.

Increase the the waiting period, enhance the check to include school records.

Arizona, like most states, follows basic federal law, which permits magazines with unlimited numbers of bullets, and requires only the most cursory background check.

"Where Arizona does differ, it is more permissive," said Dr. Garen Wintemute, the UC Davis medical school professor and emergency room physician who became an expert on gun violence after seeing so much of its aftermath.

When it comes to gun laws, California is the exception. Magazines of more than 10 rounds are illegal here. The waiting period to buy a handgun is 10 days.
