is a bit of a crude way of putting the last 200+ years of progress, no?

Not why it is still a right

      •  It's a right because (2+ / 0-)

our Founders thought of themselves as citizens rather than subjects of royalty.  Time and again, the rulers of England confiscated weaponry from their subjects to lessen the chance of rebellions.  Still, the populace rose up time and time again with any implement at their disposal against the tyrants and despots ruling the country.

saying and I agree.  I frequently wonder why guns can't be subject to rules at least as strict as power drills.

This makes about as much sense as Mike Huckabee on mescaline. - Prodigal 2-6-2008

The fact is, The right to bear arms is there.
        That will never change.

IMHO, if there is to be any sensible measures taken. The Rhetoric needs to stop.

Any wonder this strategy doesn't work?

Gun Banner: Im going to Lie and tell people we are only going to ban "Assault Weapons", and then ban all sorts of things that are NOT assault weapons.

Gun Owner: You lieing sack of shit, I will NEVER give an inch ever again.

Cant say as I blame anyone for getting pissed off after being lied to and screwed, especially dealing with constitutional rights.

Hell, I was even pissed off after that. Nothing like Banning my Hunting rifle in an "Assault Weapons" ban to loose my support. That shit gets personal.

The Lies need to stop. After that, I think good measures can be taken.

obviously have very specific objections.  For instance I don't know the back story on your Hunting Rifle.
In very broad terms I just want guns that have high rates of misfire taken off the market.  That said, I don't see how, with the second amendment as it stands, Congress can legislate such regulation.
