  •  No. (16+ / 0-)

I don't feel sorry for her.

    She brought this on herself.

    •  Don't you ever feel sorry for yourself for (5+ / 0-)

      things you bring on yourself?

Look.  There are two possibilities:  Palin is sociopathic or somewhere underneath she has the capacity to feel consternation about becking people to death.  It's far to easy to assume that our opponents are without conscience. Palin probably would make that assumption about you.  (Most Americans would make that assumption about me simply because I don't believe in gods.)  I decided to roll with the alternative.

      •  The woman presumably wants to be (9+ / 0-)

(or if she doesn't want to be thinks she's capable of being) President. That necessitates that she is bigger than, more than, you and me and what we might do ( or not). The only thing I've seen her do bigger and more than the average American is double down on incendiary rhetoric, false narratives, and mean spiritedness. Have you any evidence, not projections or guesses about what she might be thinking, but evidence, to the contrary?

      •  I believe she is sociopathic (8+ / 0-)

for a number of reasons.  I'm not a psychologist and have no business diagnosing anyone, especially from afar.  But I was married to someone with NPD.  All the classic signs are there w/ her.

And I do feel bad - for my ex - despite how horribly he treated me.  Because I know what happened in his childhood to make him the way that he is.

If SP doesn't express regret for her actions then I have to assume she doesn't feel bad for them.  Therefore it's hard for me to feel bad for her.

I do appreciate you trying to be sympathetic.

      •  I don't find your armchair psychology plausible. (1+ / 0-)

Seriously, assuming that Sarah has this feeling or that is capable of any is odd. We really don't know. What I see is she is part and parcel of a movement that thrives on not caring for others, and on the intention to destroy every one and anyone in their way. You've written eloquently on the subject, but I don't find your conclusions plausible. Palin and her ilk are all about opportunism, power, money, and oppression and they revel in it. They are only moral insofar as their nutty religion extracts something abstract from them, and have no connection to traditional concepts of religious humility or virtue, rather they believe in subservience to authority doled out by a cult, be it religious and/or political. That kind of mentality isn't remorseful unless it does involve survival, which is the most crass and opportunistic kind of motive.
