    As a counselor, I mean.

    In a moment of anger he shoved his wife, and she fell in just such a way as to break her neck.

    With him it really was just a flash moment of uncontrolled anger ... probably the first time he had ever crossed the line of physical abuse ... and he lived with the guilt every day.

    I used that as an example in my groups, when people would claim, as if it was a reasonable excuse, "I just lost control."  

    Two seconds of losing control can cause you a lifetime of shame and pain ... as well as years in prison ... as well as the death of another human being.  So we'd damned well better learn to be in control of ourselves.  That is called "personal responsibility."

    That said, I don't see Sarah Palin as being remotely similar.  I see her as a purposeful abuser who tries like hell to lie and manipulate in order to avoid personal responsibility.
