    tombs, as did Mayan pyramids. I wonder if Ziggurats were conceived as "works in progress" as were Mesoamerican pyramids-intending to be rebuilt & expanded periodically.

    great series Ojibwa (& thanks ybruti for rescuing it). Interesting to consider that about the time that Ziggurats were in their golden age, indigenous people in the Americas had already built Caral (2500-2000 B.C.) in Peru.

    Every year seems to herald new discoveries that push back the time of formation of civilizations in Peru. Meanwhile, in ancient Mesopotamia...well the destruction of ancient sites there is too depressing.

    Meteor Blades seems to do an outstanding job of community moderation despite the abject failure to be perfect.
