    I don't disagree with your position, but the reality is that a good old-fashioned moment of harsh judgment from a plurality of people seems to be an effective way of discouraging asocial thought and behavior.

    The scary thing is that liberals are so conditioned to be open and accepting that there are times when they simply miss the importance of their taking responsibility and speaking out strongly against provocative and potentially dangerous rhetoric until someone actually gets killed - and even then many will try to empathetically explain away any responsibility.  I do not believe that Palin or anyone else on the GOP verbal gunplay team are directly responsible for the shooting this past weekend, but I do believe that they have played a role in legitimizing the idea of armed attacks on Americans with whom we disagree - and I believe that that is wrong, dangerous and irresponsible.
