  •  Frum is an ass. (11+ / 0-)

The president did the job he needed to do, struck the appropriate notes in the appropriate way. He conspicuously forbore to make political points, quite the contrary: he urged against finger-pointing, in this sense agreeing with Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh.

    Bold mine.

So Paylin and Limbaugh are to be agreed with. They of course were first to call for civility. Riiight.

    What a hack.

    America beckons. Americans repel.

    •  Well, they didn't mean it, as proven by the (5+ / 0-)

way they follow up with the same paranoid fingerpointing and wholesale condemnation of most americans as evil.

Frum can't tell the difference between someone refusing to pick up a sword, and someone picking up a sword, parrying the thrust and then counterattacking.

Nobody ever bombed a pro-life office.

imagery worked, at least in the sense that they walloped the Dems in the House, yet Obama stole all of their opening thunder in this "repeal and demonize" session of Congress.

Ironic, and very sad, is the fact that the reason Obama could steal their thunder with such a moving speech is that the Teapublican violent imagery resulted in this violence right at the beginning of the Congress.  Once again, the Republicans commissioned the violent imagery as a way to win elections, much the way the commissioned the Tea Party, and their monster behaved in a way that hurt them (just like save for the Tea Party Republicans would have just about certainly knocked out Harry Reid and likely taken over the Senate as well).

Dr. Frankenstein, cleanup on aisle 4.

Unfortunately Teapublicans are just going to wait until they feel it's OK to use the violent imagery again as they know that it's the only way they can hold on to power; much the same way they will keep demonizing LGBT, Blacks, Hispanics, Muslims and even Women.

Then they came for me - and by that time there was nobody left to speak up.
