    ...as the one regarding pharmacists' claim that they shouldn't be forced to dispense certain medications just because someone comes in with a valid doctor's prescription for a legal drug. When it comes to patient care, conscientious objectors should only be permitted to the extent that their place can be taken immediately without harming the patient by an equally qualified professional.

    In other words, if an individual doctor doesn't want to provide a certain treatment because it somehow violates his/her religious beliefs, that's fine so long as there's another doctor around who can immediately step in and provide it anyway. Likewise, if a hospital doesn't want to offer EC or legal, life-saving abortions, there damn well better be another hospital right next door to do it for them.
