  •  No blood here, but my g-ggrandfather Caleb used (6+ / 0-)

to hang with his Choctaw friends (who had declined to be removed) in the swamps and woods. One night when he'd had too much, he fell off his mule on his way back to the farm (still there)and drowned in a puddle. Buried in the woods. Don't know if there's any one left who could still find the stone.

But I'll choose to think that some of our ancestors probably partied together.

    •  Oh, that's sad. And sad that there's no one left (6+ / 0-)

who knows where the stone is. But good to still have the memories and stories.

But I like the idea that our ancestors may have partied together. Grandpa Tubby would take a drink when he could get it(and Granny didn't like for him to drink).  Of course, I had other relatives that made their own moonshine... ;-)

      •  Oddly, the family was kind of pleased about (6+ / 0-)

that story - it was always told with a kind of pride - the man died doing what he loved best and he had a good, long life.

in my family too - the ones you tell only to family, because other folks might not...well, react as expected. I like those stories.
