You have this diary which wants to place further regulations and restrictions on an Amendment which is already heavily controlled. Another diary today complains about pouting new regulations and restrictions to the 14th Amendment and everyone is aghast at the idea. Why are people willing to sacrifice the 2nd amendment? All or none is the only way all amendments must be protected or none of them.

the idea of giving disenfranchised folks citizenship, and kinda like the idea of further gun regulations.

It's actually not contradictory...unless you look at the Constitution as some Holy Writ.

"adjust" the interpretation of the first amendment to try and prevent another Tuscon? Would you be all in for that?

me a lot of things depend on context. If someone were proposing a ban on all violent-laden rhetoric, not only would that be a dumb idea it would be impossible in our culture.

Conversely, if someone wanted to look at things like banning Sarah's gun site map in campaign imagery under the thought process that calling for the assassination of a political figure isn't protected speech...that might be something more worthy of discussion.

and why Constitutional law incorporates every decision made by the Supreme Court.   I'm a huge proponent of the 1st amendment and yet I believe in certain obscenity laws.  I don't find the that an ideological contradiction.
