  •  What about the sale of Blackwater (5+ / 0-)

Did someone just buy an army and it's equipment?

    From Time December 17:

The ownership group is led by two private equity firms, including New York-based Forte Capital Advisors. Forte managing partner Jason DeYonker has been a longtime financial adviser to Prince, helping him expand the Moyock, N.C., training grounds and negotiating Blackwater's first training contracts with the U.S. government. "The future of this industry belongs to those companies with the highest standards of governance, transparency, and performance," DeYonker said.

USTC Holdings, the acquiring group, includes private equity firms Forte Capital Advisors and Manhattan Partners.

Bank of America Merrill Lynch provided the financing.

    From the press release:

    About USTC Holdings, LLC

USTC Holdings, LLC is an investment holding company led by Forté Capital Advisors and Manhattan Partners formed for the sole purpose of facilitating the acquisition of Xe and its core operating subsidiaries. Forté Capital Advisors combines private equity with experienced and active management in the investments in which the firm participates. In addition to a select portfolio of investments, Forté provides transaction and financial advisory services to growing middle market companies.

Manhattan Partners is a progressive thinking private equity firm focused on control equity investments in high growth and transitional businesses. The firm has global experience across private equity, corporate finance, M&A, entrepreneurship, and operations. The firm’s Managing Partners are entrepreneurs as well as investors, with an expectation to be intensely engaged in the management and growth of each portfolio company.

I wonder what "progressive thinking" means in this context.

It was written up in wired magazine in 2008:

        http://www.wired.com/...

based in Mclean, VA. As of April 7, 2010, is  subsidiary of AAR Corp.

AAR is just a company that provides logistics as well as cargo and personell hauling  to the the DOD and other military orgs.

        •  And Blackwater had a bunch of (0+ / 0-)

"issues" for illegally importing weapons into Afghan.

Paid a huge fine for that, too.

I guess we shouldn't imagine that any illegal Afghan drugs were transported into the US via Blackwaters private air strip either.  Especially since the FAA has openly admitted it has lost track of private aircraft in the USA.

There are not checks for drugs entering the country on 'private planes/airstrips'.   As if that makes sense considering it is open knowledge that the cia has been running drugs to finance its secret ops and that many high level cia personal work for blackwater/xe.

It's difficult to be happy knowing so many suffer. We must unite.
