    Paid sick days?
    Ah, the good old days....
It's been ages since I've had the luxury of calling in sick, even when I've had a temperature, coughing, sneezing and generally feeling really crummy (not so great for my co-workers, but the corporate overseers don't give a sh*t about them).  If I call in sick, I don't get paid.
Even so with no pay for calling in, if you do, it's considered an 'occurrence' and you're written up.
One job had 5 'sick' days after a year of employ, but each 'sick' day you used was also an 'occurrence' and you were written up.
These days, during our 'down' time at the grind, the common topic around the 'water-cooler' is how much we pray that the economy will get better.
I know, I know, we should all be thankful we have a job, etc., but sometimes 'just having a job' isn't what it used to be.
(PS long ago and far away, I had a job where 'sick' time was accrued, much like vacation time.  I left that job with over 7 weeks of 'sick' time which I never used and never saw.)

I think, therefore I am........................... Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose AKA Engine Nighthawk - don't even ask!
