    as well.  My mom always describes the Arizona house finches as trying desperately to sing a melodic song, but not quite succeeding.  The ones in NC, on the other hand, seemed like they actually had a coherent melody (and they were definitely redder).

    In Rand McNally, they wear hats on their feet, and hamburgers eat people!

      I wonder if the differences in song has something to do with the fact that eastern House Finches arose from the small population captured (from the west) to be pets?
