      My point is that the "debt ceiling" is irrelevant. It is a way for people to telegraph seriousness on deficit issues without doing anything about it.

      Debt will occur if spending exceed revenues. So cutting spending, or raising taxes are the way to fix it - not a fake vote that now exists solely for theater.

        the foreseeable future, raising the debt ceiling high enough to not have Kabuki each year makes sense to me.
