Just as Palin was beyond the pale, so was Cohen.

    •  Why? (7+ / 0-)

Palin was beyond the pale because she was likening her own situation to people who had been killed in horrific circumstances for centuries.  Cohen is pointing out the universality of a particular rhetorical strategy that Republicans and Nazis both employ.

      •  Not that there is no merit to your point... (0+ / 0-)

But, isn't it fairly easy for someone to say either:

Palin was merely pointing out the similarity of falsely accusing her of responsibility for deaths she did not cause with the historical reference of 'blood libel'

        - or -

Cohen was likening R's who have a callous policy position to Nazis who carried out one of the worst genocides in history.

My point is there isn't enough of a difference to make a simple, straight-faced case to the American citizenry at large that one is ok and one is not.

If you want a discussion, please stick to arguing the point. If you wanted something else...please exit the vehicle.
