    than 1% that the Senate would pass this -- but I agree with your assessment of Obama.

    Then again, this is merely a step to fire up the base -- "we'd have abortion banned in this country if it wasn't for that black man in the White House!" Just what they need to garner enthusiasm for what admittedly is a lackluster field of GOP Presidential candidates.

    And it's a slippery slope -- if they're successful in this, the next step is to redefine what counts as abortion, including the banning of some of the most popular and effective methods of contraception such as The Pill and IUDs, not to mention emergency contraception such as Plan B. If conception is defined as when the egg and the sperm shake hands, then of course anything that would prevent implantation is an abortion...so if you had sex last night you could well already have life within you so no Plan B for you!
