    and my support form Obama was based on large part on his ability to use language to define the terms of the discussion.

    My support has also weakened as he's refused to use the bully pulpit to do so. I think the tax cut deal was the final straw for me.

    But the fact is, outside of Howard Dean, I really don't see any young warriors raising the flag of workers and middle class to do battle for the soul of the government. It's like everybody believes Reagan's understanding (that government is foreign, alien and incapable of being anything other than evil) of the government has the stamp of divine inerrancy on it, so no democrats dare oppose it.

    I've about given up on the democratic party, actually. I'm not a quitter, and obviously not a nihilst; I actually care quite a bit. But there is little an individual can do alone, and we can't seem to create the critical mass to pull the country back away from the far right.
