    Isn't that what the "investment" part of SS is supposed to be for? Our FICA taxes are invested and there should be plenty of $$ to pay out to retirees as long as the SS taxes are invested and the profits are returned to the SS Trust fund.  I'm entitled to that check however long I live because that is the contract we made with our gov't. I think it's quite fair and just and the least that "the greatest nation on earth" can do for its citizens.

      the SS Administration, keep sending me letters

      telling my how much my monthly check will be,

      when I retire.

      Those Checks WE are entitled to ...

      As designed, the money taken in goes right out to pay the current beneficiaries. The excess money that's been put in for the past 15 years was to compensate for the size imbalance between the boomer generation and it's children. After the boomers are dead we're supposed to return to not having or trying to have a big surplus.

        buy bonds or securities or something that had a return investment. Isn't that mentioned up thread?
