Additionally, I thank you for shining a light on the dark underbelly of the conservative movement. You have taken the effort to point out when the leading voices of the right wing, men like Bill O'Reilly, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, or Rush Limbaugh have said or done things that are offensive, hypocritical, or even dangerous to our society. You have showcased the inconsistency of the Tea Party movement, helping to demonstrate the disconnect between their stated goals and their actions.

I don't mean to negate any good that Keith has done, but I KNOW that all the things the Right Wingnuts have said or done are hypocritical, untrue, etc. I haven't needed Keith to point that out to me and I suspect most of his audience also knew those things. What Keith did do was give a voice to all the complaints and frustrations of many liberals in a very public platform. It may have felt "good," but it changed no one's mind since he was preaching to the choir. I haven't really "learned" anything from Keith in the way that I learn things from Jeremy Scahill, Juan Cole, Amy Goodman, etc. Again, no disrespect, but what exactly has Keith contributed other than mainly reacting to FOX?

And I suspect his departure will be a good thing. He can start his own "brand" saying whatever he wants without having to answer to anyone. I wish him luck.

    •  Yes, you KNOW that - and so do I... (0+ / 0-)

But at the same time, not many others in the media have taken the responsibility to shine a light on it. Fox News enables them, and nobody else is willing to regularly call them out on it because they're afraid of wearing the label of the "liberal media."

Keith called them out on it, and was unapologetic about it. It's not that he taught me anything. But he was willing to be a voice in a media that has consistently failed to do something that simple. For that alone he deserves gratitude.

Not everyone has the internet to rely on.He broadcast and reinforced the messages of those Progressive voices.

When did you first hear about Wendell Potter?Keith gave him a platform. His message went out.He has given many important people a platform. Some of them unknown until he presented them. Many people had never heard of the treasure we call Rachel Maddow. He unselfishly promoted her until MSNBC saw what an outstanding commentator she was.Was she worth it? Hell, yes!

You forget the people that owe their lives to him for highlighting the health care crisis in this country. The health care clinics that came about as the result of this crisis and the funding they received due to his promotion.

You seem very self focused on your needs and wants but it is the many people he has helped that make him much more than a news person. He is a decent human being. That isn't as easy to be in these times in the media.Open your eyes.Fox news has done more to harm people than any media outlet in our lifetime.Where is your outrage?

You take so much for granted.Keith may not be your cup of tea but he certainly contributed more than just as a rant against Fox.If he has any faults,I love them too. That is what it means to truly appreciate someone.

He will be missed. Those of us who were enlightened by him, entertained by him and inspired by him will miss him.We will seek him out and read his book and appreciate his many good qualities.
