  •  this is what we are facing exactly ... (8+ / 0-)

stagnation in the advanced capitalist world, growth in the emergent economies and 3rd world ... inflation in both regions due to speculation and bad economic policies ...

Krugman agrees with me? my my my, how the world is changing ...

No society can surely be flourishing and happy, of which the far greater part of the members are poor and miserable (Adam Smith, 1776, I, p. 96).

    •  Globalization is definitely a genie (6+ / 0-)

that we can't shove back into the bottle. Whatever the way forward, the terms cannot be exclusively dictated by the rich old boys club.

to destroy political movements in the 3rd world fighting for social, political and economic justice and then they lost sight of the plot and got caught up in the pursuit of oil and took their eyes off the ball in Latin America ... things are not completely in their hands anymore; but progressives and the left need to watch out and support those movements in the the 3rd world to make sure that they can pursue their own self-determination. This will help them and help us.

      •  Can't put it back, (4+ / 0-)

but several countries seem to be working to change it by removing dictators -- Tunisia, Algeria, Yemen and perhaps Libya -- with trouble brewing in even Saudia Arabia, which took in the Tunisian dictator.

From I've read, it's the "rich old boys" club they're risking their lives to take down. More power to them!
