  •  Came in late. (11+ / 0-)

Fab diary.  Thanks for sharing your story with us.  I worked with a child ADHD when I was a teacher aid in New Zealand.  He was seven years old and very hard to handle.  Eventually his parents took him out of the school after he assaulted a teacher.   He was a very good kid but the school wasn't doing anything to help him.  I was  the only person  who was helping him and I was not in the least bit qualified!

    •  I have ADHD. It wasn't diagnosed until I (7+ / 0-)

      was 29.

I drove my teachers nuts except, for one, I taught myself to read by the time I was four, understood numbers by the time I was three, etc.  What were they to do about my flying around the classroom when I was in the 99th percentile?  Send me to the principal's office?  I already knew what they were trying to teach.

I didn't sock me until I got to college.  I couldn't concentrate on all those big long math equations.

Think of all the wasted lives.
