  •  well, blaming the election results on (5+ / 0-)

Stewart is giving him a wee bit more credit than he deserves, but I do tend to agree - the 'both sides does it crap' was wrong, and Stewart did go out of his way to make the point in that segment.

What would have been better is if Stewart actually took some of the lies that the right have repeated, and evaluated what Cohen said, to illustrate that what Cohen said was exactly correct. But Stewart rarely goes that deep.

It IS a comedy show, after all. WE ALL give too much power, and expect too much from Stewart. Sort of like people who stranded in the desert, dying of thirst, Stewart and Colbert are mirages that appear bigger than life.

... blaming the election results on Stewart is giving him a wee bit more credit than he deserves ...

      That is absolutely 100% true.

However, as I'm sure you know, there were three rallies last fall, not two. The first was Glenn Beck's highly visible show of stupidity, then the One Nation Working Together rally 10.2.10, which was totally upstaged by Stewart's Folly.

A lot of people thought Stewart's rally was the answer to Beck's rally. And maybe it was, if the contest was entertainer vs. entertainer. But if the contest was right vs. left, Beck's rally really fired up the troops, while Stewart's sucked all the air out of the room. Kumbaya, indeed.

It's a mistake to think that Stewart is on our side, and I fear that mistake is common. As he's reminded us many, many times, he's a comedian. That's all.

I'm still annoyed his stupid rally, can you tell?

The invasion of Iraq was a war crime, a crime against humanity, and a crime against civilization. Prosecute the crime.
