    to being on cable), we gave those assholes our airwaves free of charge so that that they could make money selling us stuff we don't need. those licenses came with nominal strings attached, but there were strings, nonetheless.

    i don't know if there's an analogous circumstance with cable - e.g. some publicly- controlled resource that plays a part in getting the programs into your teevee. does anybody know? are we enabling them to profit by feeding us lies and propaganda and destroy our democracy?
