  •  Excellent diary, thunderthief (0+ / 0-)

working to protect the environment, and especially water resources of communities in South Africa against the unbridled exploitation of foreign capitalists, it is scary that a former struggle NGO can so turn against the interests of those communities that she previously tried to free.

From where I am sitting, there is not much of a difference between the white capitalists that ruled before 1994, and the new black capitalists that rule today... the poorest of the poor are still suffering, and government serves the interests of industry, under the misconception that 'job creation' will  solve all problems, while enriching themselves.

Even soccor games have rules, and rules or laws are there to protect from misuse and anarchy, and when 'making a profit' is the only objective, it is not long before there is nothing left to make a profit from.  I dont know if u heard of Anne Leonard's "The Story of Stuff Project" , but it is brilliant, and beautifully underpins what your diary is conveying - here is a vidio from it:

Sorry is was too late to leave you a tip - if u ever around in Pretoria South Africa, it will be my pleasure to buy u a beer :P
