  •  Just words as opposed to all of those votes (0+ / 0-)

that he could be casting or the laws that the constitution grants him the power to unilaterally declare.  Was he supposed to use telepathy instead of words?

These words put the far right fringe of the GOP in a terrible position.  Btw, the polling data clearly shows how horribly insipid he is in the form of a 9 point upward bounce in his favor since November.

    •  Yep, that theme is working!!! (0+ / 0-)

Still, not too many people will get jobs from it.

      •  Ask the folks who got the (0+ / 0-)

over 1 million jobs that were created last year about that.

        •  They got those jobs because of a theme? (0+ / 0-)

I don't think so.  Or maybe "hope" and "change" did work!

          •  They got those jobs EXACTLY because of the (0+ / 0-)

president's words and the hard work of the democrats in the legislature at the president's direction.  How'd you figure the stimulus bill got passed?  Were you under the impression that the president gets to unilaterally declare laws or vote on legislation?

            •  By his own measures of performance (0+ / 0-)

Obama's stimulus was a failure.  Or do you not remember 7% unemployment promise?

              •  So there was no change in policy after Boosh (0+ / 0-)

left office and the economy continued to hemorrhage jobs?!  Again, over a million new jobs were created last year.  The CBO says millions of jobs were saved by the stimulus too.  Your deep desire to naysay everything, has no impact on the data.

              •  Tell you what, call each of those recipients of (0+ / 0-)

the over 1 million jobs and ask them to go back home instead of work because it didn't count, right?

                •  You and lockewasright fail to understand (0+ / 0-)

that it wasn't a "theme" that did anything, which is what I and others are arguing against.

Also, the original stimulus bill used 1/3 of the money for tax cuts instead of direct job stimulus like infrastructure projects because Obama caved in to Republicans in advance of negotiations to win them over, which worked really well as none of them voted for the bill.  So think how many more jobs would have been created if Obama actually did what was called for instead of appeasing the Repubs.

                  •  false! The Maine republicans voted for the bill (0+ / 0-)

because of the 1/3 money for tax cuts. This enabled twice as much money to as went to tax cuts to go to direct stimulus.  Imagine how many jobs would have been created by the zero dollars and zero cents he would have gotten without compromising to get their votes!  By the way tax cuts are stimulative, just not nearly to the degree that direct spending is.  Further, not all tax cuts are created equal.  Tax cuts for folks who can't afford to deposit the windfall, but need to spend it to stay afloat are more stimulative than tax cuts for rich people.

                    •  He did not rhave to cave in a first step and (0+ / 0-)

he didn't fight for it as became his standard operating procedure.  If you want to play who knows, then maybe the Maine senators would have gone for 1/4 of the stimulus.  And I find it hysterical that you (and other Obama loyalists) now consider tax cuts a solution of any kind to growing jobs, especially after Obama caved in on his promise not to extend the cuts for the rich.  Letting yourself get pulled toward the Republicans' policies is not something a Democrat should be proud of.  Apparently, it doesn't bother Obama since he keeps doing it. The SOTU speech was an excellent example.

    •  I wasn't commenting on Obama's job performance (0+ / 0-)

I was commenting specifically on the slogan "Win the Future."

      There is a difference.

That's understandable when I realize that I can't feel my body.
