first half of his term like maybe sign a big stimulus bill, or rescued a major industry that employs a significant number of americans, or created a cabinet level consumer protection agency or something.

shedding them.  Employment always lags the rest of a recovery.

My employer is conducting tons of interviews right now.

    •  Good points... (4+ / 0-)

...while I wish that the stimulus bill had been a stronger one (ie, more direct investment and fewer tax cuts), between that stimulus bill and saving GM and Chrysler, Obama did save a lot of jobs.  Without those actions, unemployment would likely be several million people higher -- and we'd be staring at 11 or 12% unemployment instead of 9.3%.

Unfortunately, that doesn't do either Obama or the Democrats a lot of good -- the public doesn't vote based on alternate history "might have beens", and most will never think of how much worse it could have been, but instead will focus on the fact that it's still pretty bad.

TJ's assertion that he is taking no action is flat out false.

          No actions, just words.

The president doesn't get to unilaterally declare laws or write legislation.  Those things that he has accomplished so far he did by use of the bully pulpit and using his words to request and apply pressure for just like he just did with the state of the union.

            •  By your definition, that's a lie (0+ / 0-)

The president had TARP and HAMP money he could have used for stimulus.  $50 billion for HAMP alone.  Saved it for the banks insteadf.

              •  The TARP and HAMP money WAS stimulative. (0+ / 0-)

If banks don't loan, payrolls aren't met, small businesses don't expand and jobs aren't created.  Ever see that bikini graph?

                  It was never used.

out to you, you just ignore it and move on the the next complaint as if it supposed to erase the good or the previous mischaracterization.

                    •  Excuse me (0+ / 0-)

I'm old enough to regard positive as being something actually good, like 350,000 jobs per month being created (twice the population increase).  Or programs that were actually implemented, unlike HAMP.

                      •  Are you old enough to have forgotten elementary (0+ / 0-)

mathematics too?  How does 350,000 jobs per month created compare to 100,000 jobs lost per month.  On a number line, by definition, 100,000 jobs lost is negative job growth.  350,000 jobs created, on the other hand, is.... wait...what are those numbers to the right of the zero called again? Let's see... there are negative integers to the left of the zero and... um.. what kind of integers on to the right?

So far, even George Bush is beating the crap out of Obama.

I haven't said that more jobs were created under Obama than Boosh.  I said that we were losing jobs like crazy when he took office and that trend has reversed and we are now creating jobs. In fact, more than a million were created last year.

Thanks for demonstrating exactly what I said.  You ignore a positive when it's pointed out and move right on the next mischaracterization.
