How many times have I read people here complaining that the issue is jobs and that the Democrats don't know how to get their message across.  I read that President Obama created more jobs last year than Bush did in the 8 years he was president.

The economy is getting better. People do feel more confident.  The President spoke about this in the SOTU and it was heard by many people who didn't have the opportunity or care to listen to his speeches before.

Especially with the Republican majority in the House acting like complete dipwads and not doing anything for jobs or anything else, the President is being very effective.

...because Bush pretty much created no jobs.

The economy is getting better, and confidence is slowly rising.  But it's not happening fast, and the slow pace of the recovery means an awful lot of misery -- misery that we're wise not to gloss over as the Republicans did during the "recovery" from the last recession (anyone remember "the greatest story never told"?).

But the other side of the story is that if Obama had truly done what the Republicans wanted (ie, no stimulus in 2009, or only tax cuts for the wealthy, letting GM and Chrysler fail), we'd likely be staring at official unemployment of 11 or 12%.  It could be much worse...and if the Republicans had their way, it would be much worse.
