But, as I'm sure you're well aware, possible and probable are two entirely different things.

Is it possible that Oklahoma may one day be under threat of Sharia law? Yes. Was it necessary for them to worry about it, considering the probability?

That being said, it's a good conversation to have. Right now I think it's highly unlikely. And I think it will remain unlikely as long as Americans remain complacent, which they mostly are.

But it is possible and I am sure it could be done quite easily.

    P.S. I am not a crackpot.

probable (but possible) that we (meaning our country) would ever hold people in prison for over 7 years without affording them the right to a trial; nor did I ever think it was probable (but possible) that our country would engage in acts of torture (at least in this day and age).

As for this diary, it was just a personal musing, that I was sharing with others, not designed to engender hysteria, but a discussion about the ability of cutting off communications here at home.

It seems I have offended the senses of some in offering my musing...this without the intent of doing so, but oh well...

      •  Sadly, I saw all of those things as probable (4+ / 0-)

But as I used to travel between Western and Southeast Idaho I'd pass Minidoka, Idaho, where Japanese internment camps still stand.

It has been a long time since I viewed America as a country that values human rights in any meaningful sense of the word. There are often asterisks there and we tend to read past the footnotes.

As for the person upthread who is accusing you of hysteria, just don't bother. It's not the first time and it won't be the last that that particular poster jumps in to a conversation in the same manner. Brush it off.

        P.S. I am not a crackpot.
