    they need to get out in front of this thing and tell him publicly it's time to go, even if that does cost us a hit with the Saudis.

      I received the impression that some in the Middle East want Pres Obama to exert his influence so long as he doesn't, you know, exert his influence.  

      I think the administration is correct in saying that it's for the Egyptian people to decide their future.  The less you all look like you're calling the shots, the more likely you are to get a government you can live with because they won't be trying to impress everyone with how they stood up to Pres. Obama.

        they want the Egyptian people to decide the future.

        They seem to be saying that the Egyptians can decide their own future as long as they make the right choice - i.e. something that agrees with us.

        That is wholly in line with past US actions (as opposed to rhetoric) in that region.
