appreciate the sentiment. Hopefully we'll get a fire lit under collective asses before its too late.

If you aren't outraged, you're not paying attention.

Exposing PowerLine for the extremists they are.  See my diary and associated action alert.

The Radical Right is laying the groundwork for a pogrom against dissent towards their program to destroy America by claiming that the terrorists and the Democrats are in bed together.  The catalyzing event will be the next terrorist attack against our country.  At that point the wingnuts will tell America that they have been claiming for months that the "Left" is in an "alliance" with Islamic terror and that stronger tactics are needed to destroy "the enemy within."  Some Democrats will actually back these calls (think DLC types) in a futile attempt to save their own skins.

It is better to die than to live as a slave.  That is the hallmark of any free people.  Once the violence starts, we must fight these people to the death, because life in their iron grip is not worth living, not for us and certainly not for our children.

They have crossed the Rubicon with their claims of a Leftist-Islamic alliance.  They offer not even the slightest argument in favor of this insanity.  Is there anecdotal evidence of tie-dyed burka-clad hippie-chicks in People's Park in Berkeley?  A sudden decline in the consumption of pork products in Vermont?  Is the New York Review of Books now being published in an Arabic/English bilingual edition?

We must fight to preserve our great nation.  So far the struggle is non-violent.  We must continue to use the power or persuasion and debate.  If we want it to stay non-violent though, we must prepare for the very worst.   The wingnuts are serious about their hate; it's really all they have at the end of the day.

(Much as the use of 9/11 and knowing it would happen and letting it)

            Exactly !

(Could not agree more with your insight.)

As the second diarist mentioned in the list, I'm glad that this topic has found some recommendations. Sometimes I think it's a matter of timing here, with posts getting lost in heavy traffic races to the bottom of the "recent diaries" list.

But sometimes I think it's a matter of timing of events. This past weekend, I saw a House committee on CSPAN grilling intelligence officials. I heard a couple of Republicans (sorry, I was cleaning the kitchen and listening, so I don't recall the names) really digging on this "problem" of what they called radicalization of Americans -- that is Americans joining forces with al-Qaeda terrorists. Yeah, right. As if anyone who opposes Bush suddenly wants to start bombing Americans. But that seems to be the new focus.

And it fits very neatly with the new powers granted by the Patriot Act, Patriot Act II and the recent intelligence bills.

The CIA head agreed that radicalization was a primary concern.

And today's headlines about tax records being demanded of environmentalists who dared criticize Bush's "Ban Clear Skies" plan also seem to go along with this theme.

And ... well, just about everything that BushCo has done since 9/11.

FRAME:  After the 9/11 attack perpetrated by foreign nationals who were in the country illegally, the security apparatus gets turned on American citizens.

PROPOSAL: Create a website that features photos and bios of the major actors in this fascist movement. Draw connections with notorious fascists of the past. Show common uses of rhetoric. Show common deeds. An "America's Most Wanted" site.

      Any takers?
