  •  Indeed: Now they attack FDR relentlessly (4.00) well. They are going after all of his programs. I recently heard someone note that George W. Bush is implementing his grand father's, Prescott Bush, programs. I think that is quite accurate. These people have always feared how FDR empowered the middle class. They felt betrayed. How dare their entitlement be questioned!

Lately, I've seen alot of shows on whether or not FDR knew Pearl Harbor was going to happen. These shows aren't painiting the question in a good light either. Just for the record, I think FDR knew the attack on pearl harbor was coming. However, what you won't see on TV or most of our history books, is the reason we were "isolationist" back then was partly due to the fact that the wealthy elite in this country, the Bush's, the Fords, alot of the idustrialists, were all fascists. They wanted Hitler to succeed. This is why they didn't want the U.S. in the war. This is why FDR knew he had to allow America to be attacked before we would do anything, IMHO.

Anyway, I've seen alot of programs attacking FDR, but I haven't seen any on how the right wingers in this country had planned to overthrow him and install a military givernment that would back up the industrialists.

The reason I bring this up is they aren't just trying to marginalize liberals, they are trying to erase us from history, at least in terms of success. Hence the demonization of figures like FDR and Carter and the annointing of "Saints" Reagan and Bush. I think some of the Democrats in D.C. have finally figured out this is a full scale war, just as deadly as the cold war, only this one is being fought within the U.S. We can't afford to lose. For our own sake and the worlds.

    •  If history is any guide, the right wing . . . (none)
will self-destruct under the weight of its own hatred the same way McCartheyism did. Maybe this Gannongate affair is a sign of an upcoming implosion. Let's hope so, at least.
      •  McCarthyism did not "self-destruct" (none)
McCarthyism was destroyed by the Army-McCarthy hearings. For almost the first time, people got to see them on television, and see exactly what kind of hatemonger McCarthy was. And of course it was soon enough after the war that everyone remembered Hitler & could draw their own comparisons.

As I said above, sunshine is the best disinfectant.
