  •  URGENT- Diary updated with this smoking gun (4+ / 0-)

I think Kossack ex con has uncovered something big.  If there is an all-out assault on protesters at dawn then I believe we have a critical piece of the story in what amounts to the "smoking gun" that it is paid government forces and not some legitimate pro-Mubarak element, which makes it look like civil war and strengthens Mubarak's hand.  As someone just said, this is precisely a way to crack down without looking like it, as there is just enough wiggle room in reporting on police in plainclothes to say things like "protesters allege that some of the pro-Mubarak demonstrators are paid forces," which is complete horseshit.  They all are.

Please share this with any major media contacts you may have or get the image out anyway you can.  If we have a smoking gun, they might have to stop.  Thanks to ex con for finding this.  Reporters can contact through ralphlopez2002 at hotmail dot com (ex con, you want to list a contact?)  Finally, please download the image onto your hard-drives se we have many back-ups.

Diary: Kristoff: Pro-Mubarak" Attackers are Government-Sponsored Thugs

UPDATE- A DailyKos commenter brings to light what is alleged to be a police ID captured from a pro-Mubarak thug by anti-government protesters.  This is the first physical evidence I have seen which buttresses Nicholas Kristoff's report that the attackers are on the government payroll, either criminals released and paid to commit violence or police forces out of uniform.  Since the security forces outnumber the regular army 2 to 1 they easily have the numbers to make up the size of the pro-government contingents being reported.  Image here, with requested Arabic speaker commentary from Facebook.

Binny Masheesh Well, on the right-hand side you see the number, his name etc. The left-side is unreadable, but he certainly wears a police-type cap, that's not a regular civilian ID. Also it seems that one of the categories says: Raqm al-Shurta (Number of police), but I'm not completely sure because of the blurriness of the picture.

When I called congressional offices and the state dept. today I got the distinct impression that they know this.  Lawrence O'Donnnell just reported that they are govenrment hired thugs on his show.  I think they know.  The question is what will and can they do about it.

the video?  I think more important than what they can do is them knowing the cat is out of the bag, and the evidence is out there. No more "speculation" as to who, what, or if they were government-paid forces.
