a political party and moneyed interests to push our agenda forward, it will go absolutely nowhere.

    .

Our party has been entirely hijacked. Even we sometimes rationalise how we must support right wingers in our midst in order to achieve our goals. The reality is we should accept temporary alliances with them. And only that.

We have to walk away from the idea of party first. Or even being members. We have to consider progressivism, and that does NOT include "economic conservatives/moderates". We need to only support progressives period. We need to go after nonProgressives regardless of party. I think we All made that mistake last election at a time when we had the opportunity to change the world. Rather than fighting for progressives in every state regardless, we decided to fight for "whoever could defeat the republican" in every state. A huge mistake i think the vast majority of progressives made.

Our soul focus needs to be, from this moment forward, to take over the democratic party from the bottom up.

By 2012, I think the "Democratic" branding is going to be radioactive and that incumbents serious about re-election will be running as 'born-again' independents against Obama from the left or 'born-again' Republicans against Obama from the right where teabaggers permit it.

the press has gotten on board with Obama. They fired a few warning shots across his bow when it appeared the working classes might actually get screwed slightly less hard but in the end he came through for them.

And voters have incredibly short memories. They'll forget he is all good with torture, with the .gov killing americans, with both wars, with big pharma, with mandated purchase of corporate products, with saving the banks at all cost, with spending a trillion in essentially "earmarks" instead of half a trillion to end unemployment TODAY, with rescuing the mortgage fraud guys and sending an FU to the victims etc etc etc etc etc

Unless one of the chattering classes darlings like Jeb Bush runs theyll back obama up and thus let the actual dems squeak by imho. They love them a good talker who pretends to be a democrat.

Democrats win. Today's announcement of reduced unemployment appears to be BLS gaming the stats, with an after-the-fact readjustment of the numbers to something that looks like reality coming to a Friday news dump to a news media outlet near you.

I expect unemployment to be significantly worse. Whether or not BLS admits it will be irrelevant. I also expect the efforts to pump up equities via QE to blow up in Bernacke's face. And that the wealthy will profit behind having advance notice of when things will blow and unloading on dumb money beforehand.

Many more worthless 401Ks, pension funds, and more unemployment is a perfect storm for the Democratic Party.

          •  It cant get "better enough" in time (0+ / 0-)

And frankly other than using a plan i developed (which didnt make anyone in washington rich) there was no way we could recover in time. (and never will so long as free trade is in place). He will run on his personality and people will have forgotten his mistakes and be confronted with a worse alternative next time. He will win because the gop knows it has no chance in hell and both parties put their second string up when that happens.

I think if we kick out more bluedog scum and push more progressives.. even if we end up losing more seats (i dont think we will).. we will win in the long run.

If we had an actual Progressive congress, and congressional leaders who werent corrupt or centrist we'd have won 2010 big.
