  •  I have a good friend who is deaf and an (13+ / 0-)

    artist. I'm sure he could tell (yes, he does speak) a ton of stories about how being deaf has resulted in difficulties for him, but from my perspective, he's successful. I think he's managed because he's so very good at what he does. Many years ago, when he was in college, he worked for a manufacturing company that preferred to hire deaf people for their assembly line, but I can see that finding a job like that would be very difficult if not impossible in our current economy. I wish your son the very best in finding something he really likes to do. That's probably the key to anyone's best career.
